Wim Wenders makes a strong case for simple living with this achingly lovely tale about a Tokyo public toilet cleaner who finds quiet joy in the world around him. He listens to 60s and 70s American and British rock on cassette. The song choices – in particular the Lou Reed track that gives the film its title and Nina Simone’s Feeling Good – are windows into his soul.
