Blue Heron

This semi-autobiographical story explores the impact of mental illness on a Hungarian immigrant family. Set on Vancouver Island in the 1990s and told through the eyes of eight year old Sasha, the story follows the strange behaviour of half-brother Jeremy (Edik Beddoes) which becomes increasingly destructive and dangerous. Mother and Father struggle to cope but little is offered by way of support. In a flash forward we meet adult Sasha (Amy Zimmer) who discovers that present day understanding of Jeremy’s problems could have led to different outcomes
