Opponent

A tense and complex drama dealing with masculinity, intimacy and violence, and drawing on some of the director’s experiences as a refugee in northern Sweden. After a devastating rumour circulates about him at home, Iman is forced to flee a good and prosperous life in Tehran with his family. As an asylum seeker in Sweden Iman, an Olympic wrestler, is persuaded to join the national team to bolster his asylum case but his former contacts and personal demons resurface as he does this.
